Sookie tells Warlow that the one thing she hated about being a faerie was knowing what everyone thought of her. Warlow tells her that is why he has spent so long alone. Sookie reveals that the town calls her a "danger whore. She then strengthens the rope binding Warlow and tells him he needs to feed. Warlow bares his fangs and hesitates for a moment before feeding on her. After feeding on her for a couple of seconds, Sookie then feeds on him. She takes off her and Warlow's clothing and proceeds to make love with him, a glowing light emerging from them.
Sookie and Warlow lay naked in the sun on a plane of the Fae together. Just having made love, Sookie realizes this was the first time she has made love in the daytime and Warlow says she just wrote their wedding vows. Sookie tells Warlow just because they had sex doesn't mean they are getting married. Warlow thought that Sookie had said yes to his proposal and Sookie says she doesn't think its just an infatuation but she also doesn't want to rush anything.
She stands up when she hears crying. As she hears the person clearer, she realizes it's her friend Arlene Fowler Bellefleur crying from the earth realm. She tells Warlow she has to go help her friend because she fears something bad has happened but she will be back later. She uses her faerie magic to teleport back to the Bon Temps cemetery leaving Warlow alone. Sookie and Bill arrive at the cemetery and Bill asks her what changed her mind about being turned and Sookie says destiny is too much of a hassle to keep fighting.
They take each others hands and Sookie transports them to the other plane, only to find Warlow still tied to the headstone with bite marks and blood all over his neck. Bill realizes it had to have been Eric who attacked Warlow and almost drained him. Sookie holds the drained Warlow in her arms, intending to feed him her blood in order to heal him. Before Warlow can heal Bill demands that Warlow come with him but Sookie states thanks to Eric that deal is now off.
Bill grabs Warlow and threatens Sookie's life to get off this plane of the fae but Warlow instructs Sookie to use her faerie magic to force Bill out of the plane. He lands in the Bon Temps Cemetery and runs away.
There is no medicine that is strong enough to numb the pain; the best one could do is to immobilize the body. Eric tricks Sookie into drinking some of his blood, much to Bill's dismay. He starts with Jubilee and even gets Wolverine under his control before his plans can be thwarted. Adorable two-year-olds with dimples and lisps that could destroy half a village in one of their tantrums. Ch 27, DR.
Warlow begins to feed on Sookie to regain his strength. Sookie is finished helping Warlow and tells him she needs to go to her friend's funeral. Warlow asks her if the deal is still on for her to be his and she assures him she will not break the promise she made to him before leaving.
She uses her light to travel to the cemetery but no one notices her unusual arrival. When Sookie came back from Terry's funeral, she told Warlow that she needed more time, and that she wanted to date like a normal person, and she wanted Warlow to become part of the community of Bon Temps. Warlow didn't agree with this, and slapped Sookie. He wanted her to be his, as soon as possible, and had no interest in living a "normal life" with Sookie in Bon Temps. With Adilyn's help they broke into the faerie realm, where Bill briefly brawls with Warlow. It can be assumed that due to his age being greater than Niall, and that a Faerie's powers become stronger with age, that Warlow's fae abilities are stronger than Niall and any other Faerie in the history of Faes.
This is demonstrated by the fact that Warlow rendered both Bill and Violet unconscious with a single zap of his faerie light , while Niall only managed to momentarily stun Nora despite striking her multiple times with more pronounced blasts. Under normal circumstances, a vampire of his age would be killed by sunlight almost instantly, but as a faerie, he can walk in the sun with no ill effects whatsoever. Despite his immense age and implied strength, Warlow has been shown to be rendered almost completely defenseless when restrained by bonds that were enchanted by faerie light.
In this state, Eric Northman a vampire much younger and weaker than Warlow was able to attack and drain Warlow almost to the point of the true death. Like ordinary vampires, Warlow can be killed by staking, and that is how he met his true death.
Like ordinary faeries, his true form was revealed in death as a pointy-eared goblin-like creature. In addition to this, the power of daywalking died with Warlow, as all the vampires that fed on his blood lost this ability after he met the true death. Eric Northman was even shown burning in the sun immediately after Warlow perished. Being not only a faerie-vampire hybrid but also the oldest vampire in the series with the exception of Lilith he is most likely the most powerful vampire in existence after Lilith's death. He is capable of traversing dimensions himself and is definitely immune to silver as he consumed it with no effect.
He could also enter homes without an invitation. His only weakness was staking. After the death of Billith, Warlow was likely the most powerful being in existence.

Please try again later. The author built a funky and trippy new vampire world. It got confusing in parts but by the end I think I understood "the rules" for these vamps. Some people don't like love triangles. I don't mind them. I hope for once I get it right. I just can't express how amazing this book was!!! However, in light of this being an honest review I will point out the things that tended to pull me out of the story. There were some major editing issues with the copy I had. Typos and awkward sentences abound. Sometimes the POV or tense would shift without warning.
It got confusing at times. Obviously, the story was amazing enough for me to overlook these things and I NEVER take off stars for editing issues. The book was long. Like really long. Like this could be two books long.
There is a certain point, right around the halfway mark that would have made a perfect ending to book 1. I don't know why, but I cannot stand him. I'm sure he's great in an "evil, rapey" way but he does nothing for me. I spent a good portion of the book wishing he would just go away already. No this really isn't a sign of a bad book. It's the sign of an amazing story that was good enough to evoke this strong of a reaction from me!!!
Will I be reading book 2 and reviewing it here for all of you. Hell yes! It falls into the New Adult category. There is strong language and lots of sexual situations. Speaking of typos, can we count all the ones I made in this post. View all 5 comments. Oct 01, Natalie rated it it was amazing. My Thoughts: One of my favorite genres to read has always been vampires, but after awhile and you have read SOOO many vampire novels, you have to give the vamps a rest and try a new "outside your comfort zone" genre, so I have been visiting with some other friends like werewolves, faries, witches and even some shapeshifters and a whole lot of romance.
Sometimes when you read too much of one genre they all seem to blend together and become not boring but just the same. When I agreed to read this se My Thoughts: One of my favorite genres to read has always been vampires, but after awhile and you have read SOOO many vampire novels, you have to give the vamps a rest and try a new "outside your comfort zone" genre, so I have been visiting with some other friends like werewolves, faries, witches and even some shapeshifters and a whole lot of romance.
When I agreed to read this series the blurb of both books, something grabbed my attention and I thought I would re-visit my favorite vampire friends, hoping it would be different, I was not disappointed one little bit, and you will not be either. Most books I read have the ability to take me right into the story, to me that is a great book, some take me half way, but I love it when I read a book that takes me completely into a book from the first chapter and hold me there right until the very last page, and leave me totally shocked and surprised and wanting more RIGHT NOW lol.
This was one of those books. It was almost like I was right there living and feeling right along with all the characters, it was filled with laughter, magic, it was packed with action and I loved the love triangle that went along with it. Now this is a two-part review as I have read the second book in this series as well so I will just keep going with my thoughts on book 2 Smoke and Mirrors. View all 3 comments. The dialogue was juvenile at best, story-telling left much to be desired. The editing was atrocious.
If you are comfortable wading through hordes of run on sentences which were paragraphs long! I found it distracted from the story enough that I just plain didn't care and was too aggravated to continue. I purchased the entire series at once, sadly I will not be continuing. I really wish we were allowed to give 10 star reviews on books because this one would be on the top of the list. I would love to pick thru Ms. So move over all big named authors because Rue I really wish we were allowed to give 10 star reviews on books because this one would be on the top of the list. So move over all big named authors because Rue Volley is definitely going to take over the writing world for us since she has the knack to keep us entertained in all aspects of the writing world.
She is a star that will shine over all of us. If her writing has you hooked, you should check out her artwork and her jewelry as well. Rue sleepwalks and wakes with bruises. Something is wrong, her mom goes missing and her dad disappears right before that. Sam and Josh have come to take over caring for Rue and Kai. Rue is discovering that she is more than just human.
Johnathan is in love with Rue and he wants to be by her side no matter what. The pull between the two of them is enchanting but can they control their feelings for each other? With Josh around though, Rue wants to dislike him but can she? Who will you fight for and protect no matter what? Welcome to a world of magic where looking into a mirror might be your biggest mistake. Aug 24, Elizabeth Lance rated it it was amazing. I fell in love with the characters of this book!
Volley has a great way of expressing her characters feelings and she takes you on a wonderful roller coaster ride of emotion through out this book. Don't read any more if you don't want spoilers! She falls in love with the handsome and charismatic Jonathon, but then there is Josh, who is snarky and fun and always in her face. She loves them both and thus a triangle ensues but it's hard to sort out your love life when the men you love keep getting captured and they are all constantly fighting for their lives. Blood and Light leaves you with little doubt that both men love Rue, and would sacrifice themselves to save her, the question is will they be able to before Rue saves herself? I look forward to reading book 2 in Ms.
Volley's series to see exactly what happens next! I loved this book! Aug 03, Annette M Guerriero Nishimoto rated it it was ok. I agreed to review this book based on it's summary and was looking forward to a new and exciting story.
Though the central premiss of the story is enticing, the story seemed to go on and on and on. The characters kept being captured over and over by the same group and ending up in the same places. Also, I know there is suppose to be a love triangle between Rue, Josh, and Johnathan, but I'm not really feel it so to speak. It's obvious that both of them are in love with Rue, but nothing really happens.
Blood and Light did neither of these things for me. The events in the story are to repetitive. Perhaps Volley should have broken this tome into smaller books instead of trying to write a "Twilight" sized book. Aug 05, Kim rated it really liked it. It started out slow, and I had to get used to the writing it sort of annoyed me in the beginning how much the names are said! I nearly gave up and moved on to something else, but then it was like flipping the page turned the light on and it got quite interesting I immediately downloaded 2, Smoke and Mirrors.

A wonderfully fresh spin on the vampire novel. It has a brilliant mix of humor, magic, swordplay and moments of action that not even todays films can match.
