I Like a tidy clean home myself but.
Really, a closet shouldn't elicit all of those emotions, but it can. Weight issues are caused by lifestyle, says Walsh, and clutter, chaos, and fat are inextricably linked. Te write has a good and engaging voice, as if she's speaking to a friend. Read about how to simplify your eating habits. This book is great to help you get started with process of decluttering you life and space.
I am not overly houseproud My ex-husband was so messy and threw his clothes for the washing machine on the floor right next to the washing machine etc. And left me to pick them up. I once went to stay with a friend for a few weeks and he hadn't done any washing when i returned. And the sink was full of dirty dishes. I now live alone without all the stress of someone else's mess.
This isn't the healthy, organized kind of disorganization. It's addressing the problem of scattered, random messy room disaster that is born out of emotional messy disaster and is actually the antithesis of creation. It's not a creative chaos, it's a destructive chaos. Think entropy, not creation. I find myself shutting down in my cousins clutter and filth. I cannot do anything creative there! All I see is a mess I paint acrylic on canvas, or should I say I 'painted' on canvas.
It is horrible and heartbreaking Well here I have both I do understand he can not help it. His life, his choice. Love my cousin regardless though Thank you for responding :.
Self-disclosure, I'm a professional organizer and coach who has struggled with clutter and messiness myself. We're all different and we all respond differently to clutter. I think what's important is that if we suspect clutter is having a negative impact on us, we try something different. Just becoming more aware of our own behaviors and responses to clutter can help us generate solutions.
The conventional approaches offered here are a great start, but if they don't work for you, use your creativity to come up with unconventional solutions, or get help from friends, family or professional organizers. There is no one-size-fits-all solution and decluttering and organizing is more of a challenge for some than others. Thank you! Now I am cleaning all my things and living in a clean non messy non cluttered home yea!!! I did mention my cousins living conditions and the self neglect to the family It's sad I did what I could for him Thank you for responding!
And for understanding! Sorry if this is not a useful comment, its kind of just a rant I am married to a good man but he considers himself a collecter of "good deals", lately his thing is tools and electronics and gadgets, but used to be all kinds of stuff.
He has slowly filled up every possible storage space, attic, basement, crawlspace, spare bedroom of our house, and also every shed on our property. I have tried every arguement and angle to stop him. It was a problem 20 years ago, and then we moved to this rural property, so I guess it accellerated probably due to more space. Then he discovered Ebay about 10 years ago which made things even worse, and now with his online shopping..
I admit I am not perfect, I think I have a small clutter problem too, I keep a few too many mostly sentimental items, such as family trinkets handed down, but those could all fit in three bankers boxes.
My stuff is miniscule the volume of the stuff belonging to my spouse - who goes to yard sales every weekend and brings back more stuff. If I get mad he just sorts through and reorganizes - can't throw away anything because it is apparently something to do with one of his past or future "hobbies" or the item or tool of which he has multiples just might be "useful" one day..
PS we have a home based business - which makes the variety of stuff he brings home even worse due to the tools and surplus items that "might be handy someday" for our business. If I do make up a box of my OWN surplus personal items ready to take to the thrift store, and my spouse sees it he will try to go through it in the car in case he finds something he can "repurpose".. It might be common sense to others, but for those of us who are struggling to get organized the article is very helpful. I have printed it out and use it as a guide and reminder. Saying "I get to" instead of "I have to" can lessen stress.
